Targets of stimulation will be localized based on the 10-10 International EEG system with center electrodes placed at a frontal and a temporoparietal site. The current is turned on and increased in a ramplike fashion over approximately 30 seconds. Participants will undergo tACS with frequencies ranging from 4-40Hz for 20-minutes with 2 milliampere (mA) peak-to-peak intensity. For sham stimulation, tACS is turned off after the first 30 seconds.",[13],"Device: tACS",[15],{"type":16,"name":17,"description":18,"armGroupLabels":19,"otherNames":20},"DEVICE","tACS","Active or Sham tACS will be applied.",[9],null,[22],{"name":23,"affiliation":5,"role":24},"Priyanka Shah-Basak, PhD","PRINCIPAL_INVESTIGATOR",[26],{"name":27,"role":28,"phone":29,"phoneExt":30,"email":31},"Sidney Schoenrock, MA","CONTACT","414-955-7579","4149557579","sschoenrock@mcw.edu",[33],{"facility":5,"status":34,"city":35,"state":36,"zip":37,"country":38,"countryCode":39,"cosmosGeoPoint":40,"geoPoint":45,"contacts":46},"RECRUITING","Milwaukee","Wisconsin","53226","United States","US",{"type":41,"coordinates":42},"Point",[43,44],-87.90647,43.0389,{"lat":44,"lon":43},[47],{"name":27,"role":28,"phone":29,"phoneExt":20,"email":31},{"type":24,"investigatorFullName":23,"investigatorTitle":23,"investigatorAffiliation":5,"oldNameTitle":20,"oldOrganization":20},"100053811",false,"NCT04375722","Transcranial Alternating Current Stimulation (tACS) in Aphasia","Exogenous Tuning of Neural Oscillations as a Mode of Treatment in Post-stroke Aphasia","Inclusion Criteria:\n\nHealthy Controls\n\n* 18 years of age or older\n* Fluent in English\n* No history of neurological or psychiatric disorders\n\nStroke Patients\n\n* Diagnosed with post-stroke aphasia by referring physician\u002Fneuropsychologist\n* Consent date \\>=1 months after stroke onset\n* Right-handed\n* Fluent in English\n* 18 years of age or older\n\nExclusion Criteria:\n\n* Severe cognitive, auditory or visual impairments that would preclude cognitive and language testing\n* Presence of major untreated or unstable psychiatric disease\n* A chronic medical condition that is not treated or is unstable\n* The presence of cardiac stimulators or pacemakers\n* Any metal implants in the skull\n* Contraindications to MRI or tACS\n* History of seizures\n* History of dyslexia or other developmental learning disabilities",true,"ALL","18 Years","85 Years",{"count":60,"type":61},50,"ESTIMATED","INTERVENTIONAL",[64],"NA","This study will assess the effects of transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS) on language recovery after stroke as well as healthy language functions.",[67,68],"Aphasia","Stroke",[70,71,72,17],"language","language impairment","transcranial alternating current stimulation","2026-07-09",{"date":75,"type":76},"2026-07-13","ACTUAL",{"date":78,"type":76},"2020-01-04",{"date":80,"type":61},"2030-12",{"name":5,"class":6},1]
