PRO STRESS Trial: Proactive Low-Dose Norepinephrine to Reduce Intraoperative Fluid Administration in Patients at High-Risk for Postoperative Pulmonary Complications Undergoing Laparoscopic Abdominal Surgery

Intraoperative hypotension is commonly treated with fluid administration; however, excessive fluid therapy may contribute to postoperative pulmonary complications. This randomized double-blind controlled trial evaluates whether proactive administration of fixed low-dose norepinephrine reduces intraoperative crystalloid administration while maintaining hemodynamic stability in high-risk patients undergoing laparoscopic abdominal surgery. One hundred and thirty patients will be randomized to receive either norepinephrine infusion (0.03 µg/kg/min) or placebo from induction until skin closure within a protocolized hemodynamic strategy guided by mean arterial pressure and pulse pressure variation.

Diaphragmatic and Box Breathing on Heart Rate Variability and Perceived Stress

The goal of this clinical trial is to learn if diaphragmatic breathing and box breathing work to enhance resilience and manage stress in physical therapy students. It will also learn about their effects on overall physiological and psychological parameters. The main questions it aims to answer are: Do these breathing techniques improve heart rate variability (HRV)? How do these interventions affect participants' perceived stress levels, cognitive performance, and academic achievement? Researchers will compare diaphragmatic breathing and box breathing to a control group to see if these non-invasive methods work to improve physiological adaptation and manage stress. Participants will: Be randomly assigned to practice diaphragmatic breathing, practice box breathing, or join a control group Have their heart rate variability (HRV) measured as a primary sign of physiological adaptation Complete assessments to evaluate their perceived stress, cognitive performance, and academic achievement

Impairment Based Treatment Versus Modified Functional Restoration Program in Chronic Low Back Pain Patients

The aim of this feasibility study is to evaluate the practicality of conducting a future randomized controlled trial comparing two rehabilitation approaches for older adults with degenerative chronic low back pain: impairment-based treatment (IBT) and a modified short Functional Restoration Program (FRP). Impairment-based treatment is an individualized approach in which interventions are tailored to the patient's specific physical deficits, such as limitations in mobility, strength, and motor control. In contrast, the Functional Restoration Program is a structured, standardized approach focusing on improving overall functional capacity through progressive exercise, movement retraining, and activity-based rehabilitation. Participants will be randomly allocated to one of the two groups. Both interventions will be delivered by trained physiotherapists following standardized protocols over a 6-week period, with supervised sessions conducted according to a predefined rehabilitation schedule.

Supracrestal Socket Shield Technique in Anterior Maxilla. A Case Series

Post-extraction labio-palatal ridge collapse is a significant challenge in restorative and implant dentistry particularly in anterior maxilla. Following tooth extraction, marked dimensional alveolar ridge changes occur. The buccal plate of bone in the anterior zone is primarily composed of bundle bone, a tooth dependent structure that derives its blood supply from the periodontal ligament (PDL). The PDL loss after tooth extraction results in rapid resorption of the bundle bone, leading to horizontal and vertical ridge reduction (Araújo and Lindhe, 2005, Schropp et al., 2003). Studies have shown that 50% of ridge width reduction occurs within 12 months, with two thirds of this reduction occurring within the first 3 months (Schropp et al., 2003). Moreover, the labial plate thickness in the anterior maxilla is frequently thinner than 1 mm in the majority of cases (Huynh-Ba et al., 2010). The high incidence of mid-facial recession and soft tissue volume loss is attributed to those biological events. Although IIP has become increasingly popular due to its short treatment time, it doesn't prevent physiological remodeling associated with bundle bone resorption (Araújo and Lindhe, 2005). Consequently, soft tissue collapse and midfacial recession remain common complications, especially in thin periodontal phenotypes (Chappuis et al., 2013, Cosyn et al., 2012). In order to overcome the inevitable consequences of tooth extraction, a variety of ridge preservation techniques were proposed in the literature including; flapless implant placement, bone grafting, soft tissue augmentation procedures, immediate provisionalization, a more palatal orientation of the implant in the socket and the socket shield technique.

Basic Hematological Parameters and Coagulation Profile in Type 1 Diabetic Children

Diabetes mellitus is a group of chronic metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia .Type 1 diabetes is a heterogeneous disease related to the destruction of pancreatic beta cells and is a result of absolute lack of insulin * Diabetes mellitus has been traditionally looked upon as a disease of adults (except Type I diabetes), however it can affect individuals of any age. Given the peculiarities and problems that it carries, diabetes in children and adolescents poses special challenges to the entire society. Diabetes is the second commonest chronic disease occurring in 1 in every 1500 children by age 5 and in 1 in 350 children by age 8 . Microvascular (retinopathy, neuropathy, and nephropathy) Aim of the research to assess basic hematological parameters and coagulation profiles among type 1 diabetic children and compare them with healthy controls and macrovascular (coronary artery disease, peripheral vascular disease, and cerebrovascular disease) atherothrombotic complications may occur in children and adolescents, depending on the duration of diabetes, the degree of metabolic control, and other factorssuch as genetics . Diabetes mellitus can cause blood disorders such as deformity of red blood cells and increase their adhesion \[6\].It has an effect on the function of red blood cells through the interaction with the membrane and intracellular components . Red blood cell distribution width (RDW) is a measure of the difference in the size of red blood cells. An increase in RDW can be caused by anemia or nutritional deficiencies related to anemia * Studies have shown that the average number of red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematocrit in diabetic patients is lower than the control group, which indicates the presence of anemia in diabetic patients .

HAMSTRING TIGHTNESS AND LUMBAR LORDOSIS ANGLE ACROSS FUNCTIONAL SITTING POSTURES

The goal of this observational study is to learn about the relationship between hamstring tightness and the lumbar lordosis angle in sedentary adults across different sitting postures. The main question it aims to answer is: Is hamstring tightness related to the lumbar lordosis angle across three functional sitting postures (upright, slumped, and forward-leaning)? It also asks whether hamstring tightness differs between men and women, whether it differs between the dominant and non-dominant leg, and whether the lumbar lordosis angle differs between men and women across the three postures. Participants will have their hamstring tightness measured with the Active Knee Extension test and their lumbar lordosis angle measured with a bubble inclinometer while sitting in each of the three postures.
