Dual vs Triple Lipid-Lowering Therapy in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients With Elevated LDL Cholesterol

This Open-label, randomized clinical trial evaluates the comparative efficacy and safety of dual versus triple lipid-lowering therapy using rosuvastatin, ezetimibe, and bempedoic acid in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and elevated LDL cholesterol. The study aims to determine whether adding bempedoic acid to standard dual therapy provides superior lipid control without compromising safety. The 126 participants, aged 35 - 60 years will be randomly assigned to one of three treatment groups for 12 weeks, and their lipid profiles, glycemic control, and adverse effects will be monitored.The total duration of study will be 6 months, with a 3 months individual treatment period.

Comparison of Acupressure, Ibuprofen, and Chewing Gum for the Management of Post-Archwire Orthodontic Pain

The goal of this clinical trial is to find out which method works best to reduce pain after braces are adjusted for the first time (when the first archwire is placed). The study will compare three approaches: acupressure (applying pressure on a specific point on the hand), ibuprofen (a pain-relief medicine), and chewing sugar-free gum. It will also check how safe these methods are and whether patients need extra pain medicine. The main questions the researchers want to answer are: Which method reduces orthodontic pain the most after the first archwire is placed? Do patients need extra painkillers in any of the groups? Are there any problems with braces (such as loose brackets or wire issues) within the first week? Researchers will compare the three groups to see which option gives the best pain relief during the first few days after braces are activated. Participants will: Be placed into one of three groups: acupressure, ibuprofen, or chewing gum Use their assigned method after their first orthodontic wire is placed Rate their pain at different time points using a simple pain scale (VAS) Report if they take any extra pain medicine Be checked for any brace-related problems for up to 7 days This study may help improve comfort and pain management for patients starting orthodontic treatment.

Validating and Assessing Reliability

This study aims to translate, culturally adapt, and validate the Urdu version of the Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand (DASH) questionnaire for individuals with upper limb disabilities. Since no validated Urdu version currently exists, Urdu-speaking patients face communication barriers that may lead to inaccurate assessment and limited clinical decision-making. By ensuring semantic equivalence through forward-backward translation and expert review, the study seeks to develop a version that is both linguistically accurate and culturally appropriate.

Gingival Cleft Development at Two Time Points of Canine Retraction

The goal of this split-mouth randomized controlled trial is to assess whether the timing of extraction space closure-early vs. delayed initiation-affects the incidence of gingival cleft development in orthodontic patients. The main question it aims to answer is: Does the incidence of gingival cleft development get influenced by the specific time point at which orthodontic space closure is initiated following extraction? Quadrants will be assigned to the early movement group and the other to the delayed movement group and extractions will be performed accordingly. These will be assessed for the effect on development of gingival cleft development.

Relationship Between Hemodynamic Changes and Cardiopulmonary Fitness in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients

Diabetes mellitus being metabolic disorder, chronic in nature, is characterized by high levels of glucose in our blood, which often lead to organ dysfunction. Approximately 10.5 % of adult (20-79 years) have diabetes according to international Diabetes federation. Cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF) is the capability of our cardiopulmonary system to make oxygen available to our skeletal muscles during physical activities for prolonged time, and is known to be decreased with diabetes. Hemodynamic parameters are correlated with various cardiovascular disorders but little evidence of hemodynamic changes in diabetes patients is present and more studies must be done. This study aims to establish the link between hemodynamic changes and cardiopulmonary fitness in T2DM patients, which could inform clinical practices and interventions to improve management, reduce cardiovascular risks, and enhance the quality of life for these patients.

BARRIERS TOWARDS PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

A cross-sectional study of 323 cardiac patients aged 40 to 60 will be carried out at PNS Shifa and the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases. Data will be gathered using surveys and evaluated with SPSS software. The results are likely to show considerable differences in barrier frequency across demographic groups, offering insights into targeted treatments. Understanding these limitations is critical for establishing successful physical activity regimens, improving heart health, and, eventually, lowering rehospitalization rates. The findings will help to develop specific approaches to overcome these challenges and encourage regular physical exercise among cardiac patients. Objectives: 1. To identify and categorize the specific barriers to physical activity faced by cardiac patients. 2. To analyze how these barriers differ among various demographic groups (e.g., age, gender). 3. To examine how barriers to physical activity vary according to clinical characteristics. Methodology: Using a cross sectional study design, data data was collected from NICVD hospital and PNS shifa hospital by providing questionnaires to patient having cardiac disease. The questionnaires comprises of close ended questions.
